Homepage Update - 5th March 2011

Tim Reynish

Dear Colleagues,
As I write, there have been very nearly 6,000 unique hits on my website in the last 31 days, so many thanks for all your interest. As usual I am completely indebted to my webmaster, Mark Heron. However, the increase in his work as a conductor and conducting professor is fast outstripping the time available to him for menial tasks such as organising my thoughts on the web, so I now have new web developer, Jeanette Murphy, who is planning a spring-clean. Watch this space!

Four new files appear this month which I hope will be regular features; From the Horses Mouth will give conductors and educationalists on the shop floor a chance to give us their ideas on important repertoire, while The Composer's Corner will be a platform for composers to tell us about new works. There will be a Performance of the Month to complement those Timpods, and Composer of the Month to celebrate birthdays or important premieres. We are working to revise our method of filing news and several historical files will be bought up-to-date, starting with British Wind Music 1981-2011, celebrating thirty years of BASBWE.

Meanwhile, we are working on new ways of presentation, including a blog style news section, a news archive where you will be able to search by category or date. If there are any new features you would like to see included, please let us know. For example, would you like to receive the news updates via email or RSS feed? Would it be useful if some of the larger sections of information were available as pdf downloads? The site will be evolving over the next few months so please let me know any suggestions you have.

Have a great Spring or Autumn, get in touch if I can help.

Best wishes
Tim
